Getting Started With List Building

Before revealing the secrets of the trades, here are myths and fallacies that need to be cleared before one indulges into building an opt-in list. These marketing misconceptions could pose so much of an obstacle towards your profiting well from your business.

1. Not a lot of people use email

Email marketing is one of the most effective marketing methods nowadays simply because virtually almost all people use email. Check on those email fields or blanks required to be filled up on various forms needed in processing different transactions. A person without an email address is tantamount to a person without an online home, which is one big shameful truth for this generation.

2. Email marketing campaigns can offend a lot of people

The not-so secret way to surmount this dilemma is through permission-based advertising. There’s no harm in trying after asking for permission.

3. It’s stupid to send email to all the people

The key to this predicament is to have a very discerning eye on who to email and who to not email. Better look for some metrics on how to know which group of people would give you high ROI or return on investment.

The Real Deal with Building Opt-in List

After clearing the fog regarding email marketing myths, here’s how one can benefit from employing the power of email marketing campaigns - building an opt-in list.

However, building an opt-in list is not a piece of cake particularly for the uninitiated. Here is a rundown of tips on how to succeed in this kind of marketing endeavor.

1. Strategic Collection of Data

Know which information from your audiences will help you in lowering expenses and/or make sales flourish. Devise a tactic to make people voluntarily provide you with the information necessary to create higher conversion.

Overload of data is not good. Ask only for opt-in, with their full name and email addresses. Make sure that the profiles that you gather are updated to aid in improving the relevance, timeliness and satisfaction from each deal you make.

2. Good Implementation

Old adage says it all - ‘action speaks louder than words’. This easily translates to the difficulty one has to undergo during the execution of his or her email marketing efforts. It’s a good thing that various methods, often low-cost, abound to hasten and facilitate the building up of one’s opt-in database.

Tracking your email marketing results can pose great hardship, too. Technology and relevant sources should be employed in making this aspect of your marketing a lot manageable. Your high traffic groups of opt-ins with the greatest result should be taken noted of.

The following are the most widely used methods to leverage channels without overspending:

1. Make use of websites.

It is an excellent tool for data collation and providing you with relevant info regarding your email offers. Use forms that solicit your visitor’s email address and consent.

2. Make use of print ads, brochures, TV, radio and direct mail.

These are the more popular ways of marketing aiming to lead traffic to one’s site. You may want to ask for signups for email services. Make your website more visible through these media. Giveaway offers or entries on sweepstakes are great for opt-in to volunteer their contact details.

These tactics should be applied with adequate caution and should focus on earning the trust of your opt-in list instead of simply collating data for your sole own benefit. Always make sure that the forms that you will use and other methods that you will employ will not necessitate too much fuss to subscribe. This is for people to not be annoyed during the process of data supplication.

6. Ad Swaps

One way to build a mailing list is to do ad swaps with other list owners. The way this works is, you (as company A) have an email list that you send newsletters to and another list owner (company B) has a list they send newsletters to. Company A and Company B place ads on one another’s mailing lists. Each of you is promoting the other’s list.

7. The Power Of Ezine Directories

Another way to build an email list is to list your newsletter in all of the ezine directories. There are tons of ezine directories out there. Simply search for them at your favorite search engine. When you find them submit your information to them. Even if they are a smaller directory, take the time to do so. It’s a one-time thing, and can really bring in the subscribers.

With that bunch of information, who can ever go wrong with the feat of building an opt-in list?

Building A Squeeze Page To Recruit Affiliates For Second Tier Offers

Now this is a really cool strategy that one of my online friends told me about. I can’t give you the juicy details this person gave me, but I can tell you how it works, and give you a step-by-step outline of what you can do to start using it. Fair enough?

Okay, basically is what you will be doing is creating a newsletter about affiliate programs you find that have a second tier payout. This simply means that if you refer “affiliate A” and “affiliate A” makes sales, you still get paid a percentage. A much smaller one, but if you have 100 affiliate promoting something for you and you get a percentage of all the sales they make, then you’re talking serious money. If you can do it over and over again, your talking a serious full time income.

So the first thing you’ll need to do it create a squeeze page. For those that don’t know, a squeeze page is a very short and simple one page website that it’s sole purpose is to simply collect the contact details of the person who visits the page. Usually it’s short strong copy offering this or that to get the person to subscribe. You can see an example of one of my squeeze pages by going to www.InstantPLRCash.com

Since you will be building a list to recruit other affiliate marketers, your squeeze page needs to be related to affiliate marketing. Once you have your squeeze page all setup, and have found something to entice your visitors to give up their contact info, you need to start creating some content.

First you want to educate these people on affiliate marketing and the how to of doing so. Don’t know anything about affiliate marketing? Then get busy and start reading. Read everything you possibly can about affiliate marketing and take what you learn and create content that teaches your subscribers about it.

Next you’ll need to create content that gets your subscribers to sign up for affiliate programs you find that offer a 2-tier commissions. You can find 2-tier affiliate programs at:

Or search the search engines for them!

Find at least 6 to start out with. You could basically do a review of each one, why they should promote it, and then give your affiliate link so that they can sign up through it.

Once you have all your content created, you’ll need to load it into your autoresponder. The only autoresponder that I recommend is Aweber (www.tomeymarketing.com/aweber.htm) Once it’s all loaded into your autoresponder, everyone that subscribes via your squeeze page will get all the content you have created. Space the content out about every 3-4 days. This way you’re not killing your list with messages, but you’re staying in good contact with them.

By continually adding content, you can continually make money.

So let’s break this down quickly step-by-step…

1. Create a squeeze page

2. Offer something free on your squeeze page so that you can get as many visitors to your page to subscribe as you can.

3. Create content and add it to your autoresponder

4. Constantly drive traffic to your squeeze page.

There’s a lot more that goes into it, and it will take time to setup. Once you have it setup though, you’re on your way to a great income, and it’s a one time setup. All you have to do is drive traffic and occasionally add more content to your autoresponder!

I’ve noticed several marketers now building a site where you can get a product for just a few cents. That’s if you’re one of the first to get it. You see, is what happens is as people buy the product, the price goes up.

Why are they doing this? Well here’s what I think and I’m also going to share with you why I think it’s one of the best ideas I’ve seen this year…

They are doing this because it causes an urgency to buy. If you know something is going to cost you more once you leave the page, it will play a big factor in if you buy it then or just stick it somewhere and come back to buy it later. Here’s the thing though. 98% of the time when a visitor leaves your page, they will not come back to buy. People get busy or they forget or they simply change their mind.

By using this tactic, you can make someone make a quick decision and since they are offering such a terrific deal on the product, people gobble these products up.

Are you feeling dooped? Don’t! You’re getting awesome products for a real deal. Let these marketers fight over you. J

Okay, so that’s one part of this strategy. Another part is that the marketers who are building these sites are also building a HUGE list of buyers, and they do it with the help of affiliates.

This is how it plays out. Let’s use marketer “Jane” as an example. Jane develops a site selling an ebook on list building. Jane starts the price at .25 and the price goes up every hour. Well Jane’s a total newbie, so she has to figure out how to promote her site. She decides to offer affiliates 100% commissions for anyone that comes to the site.

WHAT? Jane wont make any money that way. Nope, but Jane will build a huge list of proven to buy customers. That list will make Jane $1000’s upon $1000’s of dollars over and over again!

Listen real close to this equation…

High Quality Product + Low Price And Reason To Buy Now X Tons Of Affiliates = A Profitable List That Will Buy From You Over And Over Again!

Here’s the bad news. It’s extremely hard to set something like this up. If you were to pay a programmer to get this all done for you, you’re talking thousands of dollars. Then there’s the learning curve of knowing how to make it all work.

Using Video To Build Your List

People online are gobbling up online videos like us Americans gobble up cheeseburgers. I produce tons of products, and although people are still buying ebooks, they are really going after my video products.

People really enjoy being able to learn via video because it’s more hands on. Knowing this, you can really take advantage and build a list in one of two ways…

#1 You can create a squeeze page and on that squeeze page place a video of you teaching someone to do something. What can you do that other people would like to learn to do? There has to be something! Now don’t reveal EVERYTHING in your video. Just enough to make the visitor feel like they got some good information and then tell them that by entering their contact details into your opt-in form that they can get the rest of your video.

#2 Create a squeeze page where you do an infomercial style video telling people why they need to get on your list! Really think before you do this type of video, and make sure you lay the benefits on so people signup for your list.

Okay, this all sounds like a great idea, but how do you do it? Well, I found a great resource for you that will give you squeeze page templates, and video tutorials teaching you how to create your video and get it online! I couldn’t believe how easy it was and believe me, in 2007, you’re going to be seeing and hearing me a lot via video! This is one tactic that has really proven to work!

Building Niche Lists As A Complete Business

Niche seems to be the latest “hot word” in Internet marketing. Now I know that finding a hot niche, creating a product for it, setting up an Adwords campaign all works well and good. However, what if you could just throw up a squeeze page for several different niches and use each to promote affiliate products related to each niche. Here’s what you could do…

1. Go to ClickBank.com and study what niches they have.

2. Write down 10 of the niches.

3. Build a squeeze page for each one.

4. Fill your autoresponder for each one with content that promotes a product from ClickBank.com with at least 10 messages.

5. Promote your squeeze pages and you have non-stop checks coming in from ClickBank.com.

Okay, honestly, it’s not as easy as I just said, and it will take some major time and work on your part, but once it’s setup, it’s ready to go.

So, here’s how you can save yourself some time…

1. Get a membership to Squeeze Page Videos

You’ll get squeeze page templates each month in different niches along with a product that you can entice your visitors to signup to your list.

2. Go to a place like Guru.com or Elance.com and hire a writer to write your email messages for you.

Just these two things alone will save you hours and hours of time! All you’re left with is setting things up and driving traffic.

I read somewhere that said if you’re spending more than 10% of your time on the technical stuff (meaning setting up websites, creating content, installing scripts and the like) then you’ll never make any serious money online.

You need to be spending 90% of your time marketing. That means driving traffic to your site and making that traffic convert into buyers!

I spend about 40% of my time doing this, so I still have a ways to go, but by following my instructions above, you really can spend only 90% of your time driving traffic to your site and tweaking it to make sure those visitors turn into buyers!

What’s Coming Up Next?

Well 2006 is coming to an end, and I have big plans for 2007. I have just a few more things coming out this year. First will be the last package of MyOriginalEProducts.com for 2006.

I’m also thinking about selling this site.
